World Oceans Day - is an international day that takes place annually on the 8th of June. The concept was originally proposed in 1992 and was officially recognized by the United Nations in 2008. The day is marked in a variety of ways, including launching new campaigns and initiatives, special events at aquariums and zoos, outdoor explorations, aquatic and beach cleanups, educational and conservation action programs, art contests, film festivals, and sustainable seafood events.
For 2020 World Oceans Day is growing the global movement to call on world leaders to protect 30% of our blue planet by 2030. This critical need is called 30 x 30. By safeguarding at least 30% of our ocean through a network of highly protected areas we can help ensure a healthy home for all!
