Must have none clothing packing list for a weekend Cruising Trip
These are the things I always take and that you might just forget:
Not just for ladies!
1. Burts Bees lip salve.
2. A really good hand cream.
3. High factor Sunscreen, I like Vichy.
4. Aloe Vera Gel – a great multipurpose product that is a good treatment for sunburnt ears and wind-chapped cheeks, but works for sunburn anywhere and as a treatment for rope burns and scratches too. Plus if anyone gets a burn or scald in the galley.
5. 2 swim costumes.
6. Extra towels, I’ve got a wrap-around microfiber hair towel which is great.
7. My sailing gloves.
8. Sunglasses, I’m a bit vain I guess I have my sports glasses with a head strap and I always take a spare fashion pair with me as well for when we are in port.
9. A belt knife to be prepared.
10. At least two hats, depending on the weather, either peaked caps, woolly hats or Helly Hansom Roamer hats, which are great as they already have catch straps fitted that help to save losing the hat. That’s a tip actually, I attach straps to my peak caps as well and they loop through the clothing loops on my clothing, so I don’t lose the hat.
11. My overnight moisturisers and so on, mostly in small sizes or small containers.
12. Hair ties and small scarves to put hair back with.
I hope others find this useful, it is a list of items that I really would be bereft without on a weekend away!
Also a light waterproof jacket, shoes with no heels and of course all these in a soft suitcase not hard one with wheels.
My aim was to complement and not compete with your post about clothing to take! 😀
Based on what we've both written here though, we'd both be wearing swim costumes, jackets and shoes, hat, scarf, gloves and sunglasses ONLY!!!! 😏 Ha Ha!
I was thinking of items that I find invaluable and that other people might forget or not even know about. 😎
@ldgaromatherapy If you are in a boat what else you must wearing all day than a swimsuit ? All day you are near to the see and only need something else is when we are mooring to the port for a walk. If you have some more ideas of what is important to bring with us you can tell us!
@Chara B Round our shores we need more clothing than that, especially in the winter!
Hi sailors, I’d personally add a waterproof suitcas, there are some by North Sail that are very fashioned! They could be useful if you have to go with the dinghy to buy some things and you don’t want have them wet
I think when you sail, the sunglasses are the most important especially the polaroid once, which help with the stong sunshine and sunlight blinks from the water, also have always comfortable clothing.
I completely agree, I need lip salve when out in the salty breeze, but my absolute essential is sunglasses and Polaroid’s are the best for all but the brightest sun. I use Polaroid’s most of the time and some dark mirror ones for bright sun. I actually mainly take at least 3 pairs on a trip!
