Has anyone been to Pig Beach to swim with the pigs?
Some friends of ours went last year and sent out a video and it looks like fun?
The official name of the island is Big Major Cay, but its called Pig Bay with good reason! The island is 50 miles North West of George Town. It's accessed by a lovely expanse of white sandy beach that you can get fairly close to and go the last bit by tender. The pigs come to greet visitors and are tame and friendly. You can literally swim with them.
Hello there. Some friends of me from US show me some amazing photos from their cruise to Bahamas and their visit to Pig Beach ! They had a great experience there and they enjoy their visit. The pigs live in that uninhabited island and they 're waiting the visitors to feed them !
I remember a video on the net when a model got bitten by a pig on that island in Bahama.
Yes I have been there too and what a treat it was. Just south of the tip of Florida are the stunning islands of the Bahamas. The Caribbean nation calls 700 islands home and has some of the most pristine waters in the world. But many never go to Pig Beach!
Pig Beach is officially named Major Cay but has been given the nickname due to the wild pigs that took over the island. These pigs swim in the Atlantic Ocean and rest on the island's white sand while tourists swim with them in delight.
I love the Bahamas and have sailed them a lot, but only recently found out about the pigs!
